When it comes to sex, a little creativity in the bedroom goes a long way.
When you’ve exhausted all the possibilities of the missionary position and the number 69, it’s time to use your imagination and let your passions guide you.
To get you started, many companies offer a wide range of sex toys, which not only make sex fun, but do so in a safe way.
However, not everything that is sold as safe is safe… no matter how innocent it may seem.
An American company, Pretty Woman Inc., is marketing some candy-flavored capsules called “passion dust intimacy capsules.” At this point, you might be asking yourself how they work? Well, the capsules are inserted into the vagina at least one hour before intercourse.
When the person becomes aroused, the capsules melt and the glitter, which mixes with the vagina’s natural secretions, gets released. According to the company, the aim is to make the vagina look and taste better — to make it more attractive and appealing to the partner.
Although the company says using the capsules is not dangerous, gynecologists disagree. Dr. Vanessa Mackay, of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in the UK, is one of those who has criticized the product. She told The Independent, “the vagina contains a delicate balance of good bacteria, which are there to protect it.
If women place foreign objects inside their vagina, they risk disturbing this balance which may lead to infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush, and inflammation.” Worryingly, there is also a risk that the pieces of plastic that make up the glitter can damage the vaginal wall.
Other experts have also pointed out the sexist perspective of this product: it’s not about giving a woman more pleasure, but about “disguising” the female sex organ to make the prospect of oral sex more palatable for their partner — which assumes that the vagina is not attractive by itself.
Be that as it may, the fact is that inserting foreign objects into the vagina is not always a good idea. When it comes to sex, if in doubt, be cautious and don’t be blindsided by a new product, just because it shines. And if you want to add a little ‘sparkle’ to your relationship, there are plenty of toys out there which will bring pleasure to you and your partner, without bringing handicrafts into the bedroom!
